What is a toner, and why do I need it?

Skin toner or simply "toner" refers to a lotion or wash designed to cleanse the skin and shrink the appearance of pores, usually used on the face. Toners are applied in a few different ways, which is largely "what works best for you" is the correct method. I recommend the old cotton ball and wipe around your face, although a paper towel works just as well, and lets you get a bit more to work with if you need it. I've seen some guys get the paper towel wet, unfold, and just place it over their face for a few minutes like a mask. I don't have time for it, but if you do give it a shot.

So basically, a toner is going to shrink your pores. It'll keep you from looking like that teacher you had growing up - whose nose looked like the surface of the moon.

Our toners do contain aloe vera for moisturizing purposes, but you may find that you want to add a supplemental moisturizer if you find it drying to your face.

We base ours on witch hazel instead of alcohol, witch hazel is a natural astringent. That means it helps beat down any bacteria living on your face, bacteria leads to infections, and acne. Nobody likes acne. Acne sucks.

Keep in mind that we do call our toner an aftershave, but you do not need to be a "shaver" to use it. You just need to have a face. Bearded brothers, it works great for you too. When you've got a bunch of your face covered with hair full time, it accentuates anything going wrong on your face that's visible. Get a zit on your cheek with a beard, and you might as well have a neon sign pointing to that bad boy.

Now we worked in a chemical called "Koolada" or menthyl methyl lactate, and you might be wondering what that is. It was created by a shaving company a long time ago, looking to add a cooling effect to their aftershaves. it is odorless and flavorless, and will "chill" the sensitive parts of your skin. It sneaks up on you after the fact, and if you're into that "minty fresh feeling" our toner's will give you that, somewhat by surprise. The company actually created several variations of this chemical, and our upcoming mint toner, will feature all of them. So if you're into having a total freeze feeling stay tuned, this one will knock your face (socks?) off.
